Lurig Training Begins Wed 13th July

Lurig training will commence at 18:30 on Wednesday 13th July and run for four weeks ending Wednesday 3rd August 2016.

During the last 12 months we have seen our most successful year to date in the mountains.  A number of our international runners started their mountain running journey on Lurig.  Lurig is a fabulous short mountain race located in the heart of the glens and forms part of the fantastic Cushendall festival.

Summer Training Programme & Rota

"We run the town" no longer applies. We run the country too, over hills, along the trails and even hit the track. This summer's training programme provides a rich variety of running terrains. On Wednesdays we're really mixing it up with training in Portglenone Forest, Lurig, Antrim track, Ballymena Academy and Ecos. Wednesdays are about strength, speed and balance. For details check the Train With Us page and the newly released summer rota. As ever, everyone is welcome.

Our Inspiration

Why do we run? What does it mean to us? The first of our members' running stories is published today. Check out Ryan's perspective on racing for 24 hours. Next week, Iris shares what she's gained since being a Couch-to-5K novice in her 60s. We want YOUR stories, tales of events & why you run. Please supply a picture with your stories and email to the usual address. Videos are welcome too! The stories are being collected on a new webpage - "Inspiration" in the Training tab.

Last Wednesday arguably one of the biggest events on the Northern Ireland running calendar took place on the streets of Lisburn with the 2016 Coca Cola Lisburn Half Marathon and associated events being hosted by Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council. There were literally thousands of competitors taking part in the spectacle which included a Half Marathon, 10K race and also a Fun run which saw the largest mass entry of the three races.

Club Golden Mile

Monday past saw our club host the now annual Golden Mile out at the Woodside Road Industrial Estate. Fastest on the night were in the men's James Turtle in 5 mins exactly with young Katie Agnew from Ballymena & Antrim AC fastest female in 5 mins 50 secs. The club would like to thank all those members who supported the race by either competing, organising or spectating.
