Wednesday Training

Wednesday training has a focus on building strength and speed at a variety of locations including Ballymena Showgrounds, Ecos Park, Sentry Hill and Portglenone Forest. This comprises a mix of trail, hill and speed work including interval training and track sessions. 

Please check which group suits you best but as a broad rule of thumb the groups are:

  • Performance (suitable for sub 23 min 5k runners)

  • Development (suitable for sub 23 - 26 min 5k runners)

  • Foundation (suitable for 26+ min 5k runners)

Wednesday Training 24 September onwards - Track Session

Dates - 24 September onwards

Venue - Ballymena Showgrounds

Time - Group 1 - 6.15 pm Group 2 - 6:45pm

These sessions are open to all sections of the club, and we especially encourage our Foundation Group to come along for the experience of club coach-led training.

The focus will be short speed work designed to improve both your running speed and endurance – a great session for all abilities.

Group 1 (Sub-24 min 5k runners)
Meet at 6.15pm at the Showgrounds
10 min road run warm-up
Drills on track
Track session: 6.35 – 7.05pm
Cool-down from car park

Group 2 (24 min+ 5k runners)
Meet at 6.45pm
Warm-up road run & drills below stadium
Track session from ~7.05pm
