Meet Our Coach -
Introduction
Hello, I’m delighted to introduce myself as a Coach in Running Fitness (CiRF) here at Ballymena Runners Athletic Club. My role is to support every runner, from beginners to seasoned athletes, in reaching their personal best and enjoying the journey along the way.
Athletic Background
My sporting journey began on the hockey pitch, where I spent 25 years playing with Antrim Hockey Club, mostly at senior level. Those years taught me the value of teamwork, resilience, and pushing boundaries—all skills I carry into my running and coaching today.
Transition to Running
After retiring from hockey, I was keen to remain active and challenge myself in new ways. That’s when I joined BRAC. Since then, I’ve enjoyed competing in races across a range of distances, from 5k events right up to marathons. Running has become a passion that keeps me motivated and connected with a fantastic community.
Coaching Journey
My coaching pathway began with three years as a Leader in Running Fitness (LiRF), before qualifying as a Coach in Running Fitness (CiRF) in 2019. Since then, I have been actively coaching at BRAC, working with runners of all levels to develop their skills and confidence.
Coaching Interests
I have a particular interest in running drills, perfecting running form, and helping athletes improve their efficiency of movement. I believe that small changes can make a big difference, and I enjoy helping runners discover their potential through practical, supportive coaching.
Get Involved
If you’re looking to improve your running, learn more about efficient movement, or simply want to enjoy the camaraderie of our club, I warmly invite you to join one of our coaching sessions. Whether you’re just starting out or aiming for a new personal best, I’m here to help you every step of the way. Feel free to say hello at a club night or get in touch to find out more!
