Well done to our club representatives Jack, Jason, William, Nigel, Mark, James, Duncan, and Jimmy. A few special mentions:

Glen Rosa Horseshoe, Isle of Arran

Ballymena Runners Duncan Millar made the journey to Arran to take on the resurrected Scottish classic, Glen Rosa Horseshoe.

The race is a category Long Classic Scottish hill race. 20km 1600m total ascent.

Last run 2012, the race was started in 1989, by local hill runner Dave Freeman who wanted to create a race on Arran with minimum tarmac which challenged competitors to navigate four of Glen Rosa’s summits in a clockwise loop.

The weather not on their side, with low lying cloud, competitors set out from Brodick castle, through the castle grounds and onto a defined forest path leading into Glen Rosa.

Heading west, and the first ascent, up a heather covered hill side to the ridge of Beinn a’Chlibhain (675m) down, and on to second climb to Cir Mhor (799m) following a narrow path out and back.

Then onto North Goatfell (818m) along the Stacach ridge to the summit of Goatfell (Gaoitbheinn) (874m) “Windy Mountain” Arrans highest peak.

Following the rocky gravel path back down and through the forest to finish at Brodick Castle grounds.

The event was fantastically organised by Arran Runners, and attracted Fell running champions Finlay Wild and Nicky Spinks.

Well done Duncan!

Ballymena's Stunnerz in Runnerz
