Glenariff Mountain Race (aka the spud run!)!

On Saturday 9 March the 2nd round of the NIMRA Championships was held in Waterfoot, County Antrim.

This superbly promoted event by Glens Runners saw athletes compete over 6 miles / 1,200 feet in the stunning Glenariff Glen.

This 'out and back' course attracted mountain running clubs from throughout the province with over 140 athletes toeing the line.

Ballymena Runners fielded 10 athletes: Emma Donnelly, Claire Ramsey, Ruth Aiken, James McLornan, Duncan Millar, Tim Lowry, Mark Alexander, William Fleck, Jason Wilson and Jack McKenna.

Bentley Group Walled City 10 Mile Road Race Report

On Saturday 15 athletes traveled to Ebrington for The Bentley Group Walled City 10 mile road race, starting and finishing from the St.Columbs Running Track, cold dry conditions made for near perfect running weather.

As always a well run and supported race with plenty of support along the way from spectators and marshals.

Special mention for Laura Surgenor who didn’t have a smooth prep or race but showed real spirit and determination in completing the race!!

The medal, rumour has it that it's the biggest medal ever presented for a road race in Ireland!!

Ballymena Runners run for the craic!

Sunday 17th March saw a large group from Ballymena Runners join the 4000 strong crowd pounding the pavements of Belfast to celebrate St Patrick's Day.

A great day out although yet to be determined if that was due to the running or the food and drink after. Special mention to first man home for the club David Jones in 38.34 and to Laura Surgenor and Nikki Hassan for setting new 10k PBs on a busy course! Well done also to Isla Gregg who ran her first race as a Ballymena runner today!

We run for a bit of craic and a pint of Guinness after we finish!
