Centra NI 10k race

Centra Performances V.G.!

Race reporting by Kerry and Pablo.

12 Ballymena runners turned out in their blues to take part in the Centra NI 10k race in Ormeau Park in Belfast on Sunday. It was a freezing cold autumnal morning, the sky matched our blue shirts and the sun was out.

The atmosphere when you got into the park was brilliant, between all the 5k and 10k racers and their supporters. Cool FM were there to also give support, and a warm up coach to help warm up before the races. The 10k race started at 9.30am sharp. At the main gates there was the typical bottle neck, which slowed us down. Part of the course was a bog - you just had to suck it up and run through it. No tiptoeing when you're on the clock.

En route, the Ballymena runners cheered each other on when we saw each other. At the end of the race you received your medal and goody bag, there were so many stalls offering free gifts and food, the sandwiches were out of this world and well needed.

Notable results included Pablo McClurkin, first club member home with a season best of 49.52, closely followed by first lady member Mandy Gregg continuing off a strong performance at Manchester Half Marathon with a 50.16.

A number of Personal Best also achieved by Sara Beggs with a 54.26 and Laura Surgenor continuing to improve on her running career with a 57.57. Here's to our next race together. We Run Everywhere
