The Flying Scott wins at Coleraine 5k
Congratulations to club member Jamie Scott on winning the RAF Benevolent Fund Ulster 5k race with Pamela Davis our first lady home.
This is a great course with about 4k on forest trails through the grounds of Ulster University Coleraine Campus. It was a warm evening but running in the forest shade helped avoid the strong sunshine.
Some great performances by club members made it a night to remember.
Jamie Scott (1st overall) 17.14
Rodney Livingstone 22.13
Harry Armstrong 22.58(PB)
Ian McCracken 24.55
Stephen Livingston 25.08
Pamela Davis 27.24
Andy Stewart 27.59
William White 28.23
Mark Osmer 29.50
Our thanks to Julie Corbett and Kenny Bacon and all the volunteers who helped organise this great event.
Ballymena Runners at the RAF Benevolent Fund Ulster 5k race
Carnaween IMRA/NIMRA Ulster Championship Mountain Race!
On Saturday 5th July, the 4th round of the Ulster Mountain Running Championship took place amid the wild and rugged beauty of the Bluestack Mountains, Co. Donegal.
The 8km route, featuring 500m of climbing, was expertly organised by Rosy and her team, with the race starting from Letterbarrow Football Club, Donegal Town.
After a brief road section, runners quickly found themselves on the steep, open slopes of Carnaween Mountain.
A dramatic ridgeline run presented both technical challenges and potentially breathtaking views (if the mist allowed!) culminating at the summit of 521m.
From there, a fast and thrilling descent tested legs and nerves, as athletes charged back to the finish line—true mountain running at its finest.
Ballymena Runners were proudly represented by Mark Alexander and William Fleck, both tackling the tough terrain with grit and determination.
Thank you to Rosy, her team, and IMRA for a fantastic event in a stunning location.
